Brother, you are not alone. I just turned 55, been in IT for decades. I have the luxury of only having one kid and she's out on her own. Back in '21 I talked my wife, the saint that she is, into supporting me in taking a year off. I quit my job and used savings to keep up my end of the bills. It was the most fundamentally meaningful time of my life. Life changing. I accepted a new job pretty close to a year after I had quit. I am back in IT, and it was a bit rough assimilating, but I have a different perspective now. My wife retires in about 4 years and I'm hoping to pivot at that point, just not sure the direction yet. I'm grateful for my job but I would walk away from it and the people in a heartbeat and never look back. I think what you are going through couldn't be more normal. One thing that seemed to trigger my sabbatical was watching a short doc on a guy called Slomo who used to be a psychiatrist and now skates the boardwalk every day. "Love and do what you want!" All paths are the right path Rodney. (Which is an incredibly hippie thing to say 😊🙏
