Recently I met up with a guy who was with me for the iboga retreat I wrote about. He has extensive experience with ayahuasca and psilocybin (currently training to be certified to legally work with it in Oregon), and is a addiction counselor. We are of a similar mind; we would not recommend anyone work with psychedelics, while at the same time knowing that they have had life changing impacts on our lives, and that we will continue to work with them in some capacity.

The work can be very heavy, frightening and challenging, with the actual psychedelic being only a small part of the work that wraps around the experience. People are too fixated on the "peak" experience of the substance they do not realize the real benefit (and work) comes before and after ceremony.
