From the research I've done, a chaplain tends to start with a graduate level divinity or theology degree, then follow on education specific to chaplaincy. This can also include formal pastoral care, which may be more what I'm interested in.
Naropa University has a well-regarded program and it is based in Tibetan Buddhism, shich is far more my jam (although I think technically I'm closer to Advaita Vedanta, philosophically). California institute of integral studies also has a good reputation. I also am worried about a garbage education for my effort.
As for the psychedelic-assisted therapy, I believe I could do that as a licensed counselor, too. Its just that they opened it up to chaplains, and coupling that with near-death care I thought that could be really interesting.
