I think I have had an unfair bias that it is easier for women to hug. Having a woman tell you she was not comfortable definitely puts a check on my assumptions.

I love that you are willing to announce your intentions to hug. I struggle with even doing that (what if they don't want to but are pressured into it!?!?), which really is sad.

I do like your differentiation between hug and embrace. I had not made that before, but you are quite right.

I think the whole Italian thing doesn't hurt, either... :-)
